StageKids Announces ‘Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ Cast

TAP’s educational theater (StageKids) is producing the holiday favorite, ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ by Barbara Robinson. The play is based on her best-selling book of the same name and features actors of all ages from the Door County community. Performances are Nov. 18 at 7:30 pm, Nov. 19 at 2 and 7:30 pm, and Nov. 20 at 2 pm.

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) announces the cast for the annual StageKids holiday show.

In ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,’ Grace Bradley (Katie Lott) struggles to fill the shoes of Mrs. Armstrong (Pam Welter), who usually directs the Christmas Pageant. A hospital stay keeps Mrs. Armstrong from her usual duties, but not from dispensing much advice about directing the Christmas Pageant. David Ensign plays Mr. Bradley, with Kayley Bell as Beth (the narrator of the play), and Andre Estes as Beth’s brother, Charlie.

No sooner has Mrs. Bradley started rehearsals than the local playground bullies, the Herdman kids (played by Kole Mallien, Malia Bicoy, Owen Ensign-Foulds, Scout Feldman, Bryton Copiskey and Molly Hall), take over the play, suggesting cast changes, script alterations and fight scenes. “This is the Christmas story from the Bible,” says Mrs. Bradley. The Herdmans, having never heard the story before, are fascinated.

Even though Alice, who “is always Mary” (Eva Leiberg) is secretly spying on Mrs. Bradley’s efforts to create a successful pageant; angels and shepherds alike (Jacqueline Barliss, Hailey Teske, Lily Turner, Marley Turner, Sidney Turner, Rose Schnor, Sam Parenteau, Bjorn Lokken, Wolfgang Virgin, Kailei Klaubauf, Delaney Skiba, Jaden McAfee, and Krista Jacobson), make their way through rehearsals.

Mrs. Bradley’s efforts are put to the test when Revend Hopkins threatens to cancel the pageant due to complaints from Mrs. McCarthy (Mary Hall), yet Mrs. Bradley perseveres. With Christmas carols sung by the angel and shepherd chorus (Zoey Copiskey, Eden Hesler, Sue Mann, Natalie Schink, Henry Lokken, and Nathan Klaubauf) and coordinated by music director Fred Hodges, the play turns into “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”

Amy Ensign directs The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, with costumes and props by Jocelyn Barnes, Margaret Magle, and Debbie Finn. Creating the set and lighting design is TAP’s Co-Artistic Director James Valcq.
