The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s “Top Ten” theatre of 2016 list is in!
Congratulations to TAP (Best Production, ISAAC’S EYE), Katherine Duffy (Best Leading Performance, THE AMISH PROJECT), and Dan Klarer (Best Supporting Performance, ISAAC’S EYE).
We’re especially proud that TAP is the only Door County theatre to make the “Top 10” in the categories of BEST PRODUCTION, BEST LEADING PERFORMANCE, & BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE!
Here’s what Mike Fischer had to say in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
BEST PRODUCTION: “Isaac’s Eye”: Lucas Hnath’s smart play uses the example of Isaac Newton to ask whether one would be willing to live and die alone if it meant being remembered forever. Under Robert Boles’ direction, Third Avenue Playhouse tackled that question with verve in Sturgeon Bay.
BEST LEADING PERFORMANCE: Katherine Duffy (multiple roles; “The Amish Project,” Third Avenue Playhouse): Credibly channeling multiple characters, Duffy thereby embodied the empathy this play espouses.
BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE: Dan Klarer (actor and plague victim, “Isaac’s Eye,” Third Avenue Playhouse): Klarer’s funny and smart Brechtian narrator sold me on a play I’d previously liked but not loved.
